Many of you are motivated and want to get ahead financially. A great way to accelerate your financial independence, other than getting a raise or promotion, is to start a side hustle. However, the question all of us have is, what should you do for a side hustle? Some people drive Uber or Lyft on the weekends to make some extra cash. Others bartend or waitress. Neither of those ideas sound appealing to me. So what to do if you don’t want to pick the obvious ideas?
My advice is, share your expertise. If you’ve been working for a couple years (or not), you’re an expert at something. I’m not talking PHD level expert, but any skill or knowledge where you’re better than the average Joe.
You might be an accountant at a firm looking to make some extra cash on the weekends. Take on a couple small business clients to do their books. You might be a plumber and take side jobs on the weekends for a little extra cash. You could be tech savvy and start a side hustle business to help seniors set up their wifi/tv/sound system.
Alternatively, you could look into consulting or career coaching.
Career coaching is something a lot of professionals use when they are stuck in a rut or want unbiased advice to advance their career. It’s always good to have an unbiased resource in your life to bounce ideas off of and get honest feedback.
Career coaching isn’t limited to ‘professional’ work either. If you are passionate about being a mom and have the experience to successfully guide other new moms to sanity; figure out how to become a “mommy” coach.
For fuck sake, I’ve even seen Video Game Coaches for hire. Who would ever think we’d get to this point? The point is, people will spend money to better themselves
So if you are an expert (I know you are), consider the benefits of career coaching
- Make money doing what you love
- Be your own boss
- Earn significant income helping others making career transitions
- Monetize your knowledge and experience
Additionally, no matter the state of the economy, or where you find yourself in the world, the demand for career coaches is always in excess of the supply. And, if career coaching is your love and passion, then why not learn as much as you can about how to be successful and proficient in this exciting and rewarding profession.
